I can see where your husband is coming from after all what we do is seen by lots of people as rich westerners using poor Africans as objects for their own entertainment and ridicule. It's quite a common attitude.
Fortunately those who hold it haven't, like I have 3 times in the past year at another site, been on IM until 3.00 am persuading victims of love scammers not to kill themselves, they haven't seen the story which got me into baiting in the first place of the young east European single mother who lost everything, even selling her babies cot, to send to a scammer. They don't know about the thousands of people targeted throughout the world, some from the poorest countries, by scammers offering jobs, giving them hope then stealing their money. The Cameroonian pet scammers who 'sell' non-existing monkeys as child substitues to desperate couples who can't have their own families. And more. Did you know scamming is second only to oil as a source of foreign currency in Nigeria?
But the most important thing they don't realise is that there is very little being done about this at an international level, these people are left to run riot stealing and cheating wherever they can. There is a lot of turning blind eyes to these scams. Except by baiters. |

Having been the near victim of a Nigerian scammer and the victim of a US scammer, I feel that what is done here is nothing in comparison to what these ocean slimes deserve. Introduce your husband to some of the victims' stories. If he still thinks what goes on here is wrong, then *sigh* |
