Just started checking out the love scam forum as Ruth (IP Senegal) wants to send me pics, and I noticed Pinays are one of the three primary love 'scammers'.
I've been working at a company (US) that has a facility in the Philippines for the last two years, and I have to say...this does not suprise me in the slightest
I speak to people from the Philippines literally every day, several times a day. I have several coworkers and friends (former coworkers) that I know in the Cebu area.
One of them actually runs an internet cafe as a side business, and he likes to intercept the webcam feeds . I was there last January and saw firsthand how that place fills with girls ages 18-30 at 6pm....that's why I am not suprised they are one of the top offenders (Not to mention the giggling and bashful glances I got EVERYWHERE I went there...American males in their mid-20's are NOT a common sight )
So if I, or my friends over there, can be of any assistance...determining if a message is from a Pinay, information on areas around Cebu, etc...just PM me. Really anything at all, just happy to contribute one of the few areas I have experience with. |

To cut to the chase Pinay equals Begger, They will tell you what they think you want to hear, Send you a load of porn, Invite you to join them, offer to marry you without delay, Then have trouble getting an exit Visa, and expect you to support them in there country, until the [non-existant] Visa is approved. They will marry as many men as they can find.
more often then not the sham marriage is not registered or legal.

The typical filipina scammer rarely uses email.
Most scam via chat.
There are some scams conducted by email using sets of stolen pictures and a visa/travel/emergency mode, but they aren't that common. The bad thing about the occasional scam of this type conducted by email is it seems they are averaging much bigger paydays than the same type of scam conducted by vlads.
This form of scam is still a small percentage of the big picture.
The majority of internet romance scams out of the phils are fast and dirty scams conducted via chat, often with a real face on cam.
(That's what makes it interesting)
The 'begging' is fraudulent or at least suspect.
The 'poor starving waif' is often online daily for hours at a time, spending money for an internet cafe or using a personal computer. Its a job.
This form of scamming seems to be somewhat culturally acceptable and we've caught not only whole families making a living at this, but middle class girls doing it for spending money.
Half of the philippines denies this happens while the other half says 'so what? I didn't make send me money! They wanted to!' |

Oh i didn't know you guys play with these people too.
Ok now thats something I can do,I have so much experience with these people it's not funny lol
They're by no means as stupid as the usual 419 scammers, and you do have to be quite careful with them sometimes, they can be cunning.
It's often not that hard for them to prey on the emotions of desperate ageing men.
Sometimes they're trying to sell their own camgirl shows, sometimes they're trying to take you to a link blah blah etc.
I usually play with these types for awhile until they give up.
Sometimes I become friends with them even, they can be nice sometimes.
On a few occasions I've actually gotten free shows from them. Woo hoo!
But yeah I wish the country could get out of the gutter and make this less culturally acceptable.
Oh god I was just reminded of when I lived with some filo here in Sydney. It wasn't a poor area, they had money. Yet the girl would pose as a movie star in chatrooms.
She managed to get a guy to buy her a whole new computer from this.
I believe it's as much a cultural acceptance, as anything else there. |

If they're straight out selling shows, it's not really 'scamming'.
Many of the cam girls scam on the side, and most of the recruiting of horny guys for porn site is done by what is called 'chatters', guys or girls who chat online, pretending to be hotties, and steer men to porn sites...and to sign up, earning them a commision.
Since they are using fake pictures, as well as fraudulent means to get the man to sign up, and usually talk the man into bypassing certain sign up pages where he can opt out of additional charges...it's a scam.
Some cam girls also scam during idle periods at 'work', posing as nice ladies looking as husband or boyfriend.
In my experience, they aren't as smart as 419 scammers, or Russians, since we can often find out some real info about the real person pulling the scam....they aren't used to covering up all traces of real life, or keeping scamming totally separate from real life.
(that's what makes it fun for us...)
