The robber trying to scam me passed my details on to someone who wants to be part of my business (which brings foreign students into the UK to be doctors, ahem!).
Now, if he is the friend of a scammer, he won't be genuine, will he? He's been busy filling in forms for me and is currently writing a 1000 word essay.
I've got 'his' pics that he sent me.

Information gets passed between scammers all the time... more often than not it is sold for a goat or 3 Very Happy

Definitely not legit.... bait him as you would the original guy and don't feel guilty... why would you???

Sens him an "I'm interested. Tell me more" email from a different address, and see how he reacts.

^^ That's probably not him, and you're probably in contact with the original scammer. Very rarely have I been passed on to another contact of a scammer that actually has a different IP address.

Lads use sympathy to get results. Don't fall for it.

Sorry to be a pain. He has a UK yahoo address and the i.p. in the headers related to London.
Can they get UK email addresses or would he have to be in the UK and pretending to be elsewhere.

getting a yahoo.co.uk adress is possible outside the uk. In my younger years I wanted to set up a simple yahoo.com adress, but ended up with a co.uk one. (while I don't live in the UK)

It's more then just possible, it's incredibly easy. All you do is sign up. I have a few yahoo.co.uk addys too. Doesn't mean a thing other then I selected the addy.

The picture you have is NOT really your lad. It's something he found on the Internet. He has no intention on going to the UK to be a doctor. All he is doing is playing it out to see if he can get money out of you.

Post up the headers and we can check his IP. My vote is it's the same lad.

Lads have not a qualm about stealing the pictures and names of real people and using them to scam.
