New here, whatsup everyone.

I've gotten so many of those cheesy "bank check" scams from craigslist, that i decided, why not mess with the scammers. Normally i would just keep a conversation, then eventually try to get them to tell me some info on who they really are and whatnot. The last one i got, i was able to convince the guy that i was actually one of them, and he wants to go into business with me haha! Hes asking me to give him my phone number, so he can call, or he said i can talk to him on messenger. Where should i go from here?

Heres the original email.

I'm also kind of wondering how exactly these scams play out? do they just expect the person to give away the item before they cash the fake check?

Also, where do these scammers normally work out of? this guy seems to have very good english when hes not on script.

Hi, kaptain krunch, and welcome to the Eater! Very Happy

First, if you're using your own (as in with your real life details) email addy, cease all communication with the scammer. Especially if he thinks you're a scammer, you don't want him knowing any real facts about you.

You might want to read all the stickies around here - especially those regarding safe baiting. We take that very seriously around here. Baiting is fun, and it serves a noble purpose (keeping the scammer busy so he's not scamming other people), but your safety is paramount.

That being said, if you want to play with Craigslist scammers, get yourself a nice IP-stripping email address with fake details, and have at them. They certainly need messing with. Evil or Very Mad

As for how to handle the lad who thinks you're one of them, I'll leave that to the baiters who have used that modality. Smile

Well the email is my legit email unfortunately. And it has my name in it. Other than that, no i've given him all false info, and as much as i'd love to actually talk to this guy ( Twisted Evil ), i have a feeling giving him my phone # would be a bad idea.

The latest reply, i told him i would love to go into business with him, but first i need to know more info, i told him my name was john, and i lived in south east asia, and was moving to california in the next few months, and asked him to tell me his real name and where he lived.
