I recently listed an expensive item on eBay, and I get a question from a person with a new eBay account (one red flag) who asked if I could ship the item to Spain (another red flag, as I only allow bids from the US and Canada) and wanted to use an escrow service (smells a LOT like a lad) and wanted to know how much he could buy it for if I ended the auction early (alarm bells going off, as there is a Buy It Now price listed). I replied through eBay, requesting more info, and recommending PayPal. Well, he was nice enough to reply. He gave me the site and totally side-stepped the PayPal question (alarm bells go off at this point). Well, I looked at the site (looks legitimate enough), then did a Google search. The first 15 hits are linked to 419 sites. One of the results was an ongoing thread on eBay's forum about this character. That sealed it for me.
If someone wants to mess with this character, shoot me a PM, and I'll pass along the full e-mail and headers, as I don't want to deal with him. I have other things to attend to. |
