I have been a religious lurker here for well over a year, and NEVER thought I would be turning to you folks for help!
A close family member was recently scammed by TeleMeds to the tune of $20,000. They are out of the Dominican Republic, which is where the money was wired. I advised the money is gone, but I would sure love to see these people shut down.
I have telephone numbers of all the players: Company Rep, DEA Officer, District Attorney, etc. Can you folks do anything?
Thanks.

If there's anything that could be done we'd also need e-mails (including headers). Maybe having a peak over at scamwarners would help too (at least give scamwarners e-mails and numbers, so others won't fall for the same scam).
Sad to hear about this. |

Thank you MofP. No e-mails were exchanged, it was all done via phone.
Indeed, I will take your advice and head over to Scamwarners.
Thank you.

It's not really our area of expertise - we really concentrate on electronic advance fee fraud here. That said, maybe some members have some suggestions, but you're likely right and the cash is long gone. |

Have you contacted the bank where you transferred the money and explained the situation? At least try to shut that account down and possibly freeze any money that is in it but very doubtful any still is. |

Thanks MBL and Doctor for your responses. Yes, I stepped in a shut down everything! I just feel so bad for this person. It is not even the money, but he came very very close to the bottom. Too close. Police report made...... |

That's horrible. I understand your desire to seek revenge, and wish there was more we could suggest. Likely the most damaging you can be to these criminal shits is to really publicise the case in your local newspapers, etc. Go very much on the record, get vocal, become a bore on the subject, you might just get through to somebody whose friend is in a similar situation. And hearing how tough it was for your friend, someone else may be that tiny bit more vulnerable - you may literally save some lives |
