Mrs M, not yet, but we didnt really expect them to actually give proof did we?
What they may give is a list of sightings, so not much to get excited about really. |

^^They are quite easy to spot in France. If they are not carrying a baguette after work, they are either aliens or tourists. If they have no camera and no baguette, they are aliens. |

Sentient life on other worlds - not as clear. In the 4.5 billion years of life on Earth, only one sentient species has emerged; too little evidence to draw a conclusion. |
i would expect only one sentient species per planet.
our species has not been around long (compared to the age of the earth / universe)
but we are altering the planet at such a rate now, it is unlikely any other species will become sentient,
and certainly not in large numbers.
neandertals have gone, and chimpanzees, orangutans, bonobos and gorillas will be gone soon in the wild.
the jury is out on whether cetaceans are sentient,
but our cunning plan to destroy all fisheries as rapidly and carelessly as possible should put paid to them as well.
i heard a report this week that we now have the upper hand over the most fish species [which cetaceans eat],
so we could achieve our objective within a 100 years,
but personally i think it might take another century to do the job thoroughly.
i'm glad you said 'one sentient species' - if you had said 'one intelligent species' i would have quibbled |
