As a Christian I absolutely despise the way lads like to give their false claims of following God and use his name for their crimes.

However, I will say that I did laugh at this. Lads always seem to be worth a good laugh when they screw up so badly. Keep the lad goofs coming!

I have an atheist character who scares off mugu after mugu. All he does is request that God's name is not mentioned in any correspondence, and he'll give whatever help he wants.

Result: they run away almost every time.

I guess some are programmed to "scam in the name of God" *spit* Absolutely disgusting.

Well, my baiter characters are either unconcerned about religion (Brad), no longer a believer (Mal), or devoutly Asatru (Cammy).

Brad just ignores references to God and talks on other matters.

Mal generally states his loss of faith some way into the bait.

Cammy announces her religion as early as possible, particularly if the Lad is playing the religion card openly.

I don't think it's cost me a bait yet, at least not directly.

But I had to ditch my Jewish character, because not a single Lad wrote back to her once she mentioned her religion.

I don't mean to steer this off-course, but what makes you think that the lads are making "false claims" about that?

One thing I enjoyed in my early days is trying to get into lads' heads. I would do this in numerous ways, including pretending to be a guyman, an oga, a confessor-listenerer (is there a word for that), a EFCC agent, and so forth. Sometimes even just paying attention to their patterns is enough, though. In any case, what I got through all of that is that lads are very religious and very superstitious.

I'm sure I'm not the first person on this forum to pick that up. I mean, that even explains why church baits have such a tremendously high success rate.

EDIT: I'm sorry, I didn't wrap this up. Basically, the moral of the story is that in this intellectual warfare, the best way to expand your arsenal is to understand what makes your adversary tick. Remember, this is a battle of wits, not firepower.
