I've been on a kick lately to change my lads' names to something I like better. It doesn't always work, but I learned a long time ago that if you call a lad something enough times, he may very well take the name on himself, thinking that it must be the way the name should sound to Westerners. In the past I used to just reverse their names - I didn't have too much trouble converting Peter Smith to Smith Peter, and eventually he started sending out all his formats calling himself Smith Peter. Same thing with Jeff Atkinson - it took me a little longer, but eventually he came to call himself Atkinson Jeff. It's silly, but you never know when some potential vic is going to think that it's odd that their barrister, diplomat, banker or government official seems to have his own name backwards.

Anyway, lately I've been shooting higher, to actually get them to change their names completely. I started a couple of baits lately that just cried out for creative name changes. Here's what I've got going:

Festus - I've been calling him Festivus. (This reference might be lost on non-US folks - it's a word from Seinfield for a made-up holiday in place of Christmas.) He just wrote back and called HIMSELF Festivus. Success!

Kwasi Foli - I've been calling him Kwasi Moto. He's now signing his emails as Mr. Moto. Success!

Mat Oto - I've been calling him Ma Toto. He hasn't taken the bait yet. Give me time.

This is all silly stuff, but it keeps me entertained. Very Happy

Anyone else having any fun with lad names? If I recall correctly, I believe we've even had one member, our esteemed Mod Ima Baeder, get her lad to start baiting using HER name! Now that's an epic win.
