Help, help help!!! The volume isn't working on my computer for some reason.    It was working prefectly fine on Friday when I left and now this morning it plays music but no sound. Yes, I have checked the volume, it's not muted. A co-worker's husband used my computer yesterday (I know b/c he leaves me nice little notes when he's used my computer). The last time this happened he'd used my computer I think. Anyways, I'm sitting here in silence, total silence & I can't take it. Especially when I can see that the music player is playing w/ the cool visual effects. Can one of you tech geniuses please tell me what the problem could be & how to fix it b/c I can't remember what I did the last time to fix it. Thanks! |

On the lower right hand corner, you might have a "volume" button (right next to the clock). It is possible that it has been "muted". Your music player would still "play" but there wouldn't be any sound.
Or check on your keyboard. Sometimes they have a "mute" button that can accidently be depressed.

Also try double clicking on the volume button. It should bring up a Volume Control window, with separate volume sliders and mute boxes for Wave, SW Synth, CD Player and Line In - check that none of those have been muted or put down to min volume |

Bless you wonderful people!!!  I had already checked the volume control thing b4, but I did it again and double clicked the "mute all" button & it's working now! Ahhhhhhhhh 
@Tastysnack If there is no mute key on the keyboard, is there a code that could mute it from the keyboard? Like one of the F keys?

I don't know. I have a Logitech keyboard at home, and it has volume control buttons on it. One of them is a "mute" button that is fairly easy to click without realizing it.
I don't think a regular keyboard has that function. |
