Just stumbled across this service... Called Localphone.

Basically you top up online, and they give you a local number to phone from your landline or mobile (e.g. an 020 number). They seem to have reasonable rates to Nigeria - 9p/minute. As its a local number the call will be part of any inclusive minutes you have in your calling plan.

Considering Skype charges 16.6p/minute for calls to Nigeria, it seems a great price.

Also I just noticed, they offer a VoIP service which uses the same rates, so it seems a great alternative to Skype as it is much cheaper. They also give you a free UK phone number whereas Skype charge a ridiculous amount for that - useful for receiving lad calls perhaps. You can do conference calls, and calls to other Localphone users are free, so there is a great potential for group baiting calls here.

The ones highlighted in green don't require you to top up online, you just dial an 0844 (or similar) number and it charges the correct cost per minute.

One word of warning though - these numbers do pass caller ID info through, so if you're dialing from your own number do a 141 before the 0844 number to hide your ID.

18866.co.uk (very similar to 1899)
sipgate.co.uk (VOIP with real landline area codes around UK - and you can change them if you need to!)
