what can anyone do? :(

a friend of mine was telling me about a man he knows in the salvation army. he had a tough life and his ex left him on bad terms. he is around 70 or so and decided to try online dating.

well he was telling my friend that he met a beautiful russian girl and she talks through an interpreter and the interpreter has to write the emails and stuff also. the thing isI believe he is about to be scammed. he is planning on going to Russia to meet her.
Also she has the regular scam going of her father was sick and this happened and that happened.

I have told my friend I believe his friend is being scammed, problem is his friend is not that close, its more he visits now and again and has a cup of tea or whatever. He is afraid of this person telling him where to get off and not believeing him even if he does say or even worse thinking that my friend wants the girl or something Sad

I asked him if maybe he could get the girls email or photo or name so I could search for her and maybe come up with some proof but he doesnt think he could even get that Sad

I have no idea what can be done or how to go about it... me being me...I want to stop this man from being hurt anymore than what he will be.
I just have no idea how I can do anything.

any ideas?

PD, regardless of how close they are, does she want him to get scammed?

Because that is what will happen, perhaps get your friend to contact Ralph at SW or better still get Ralph or I any details you can, if all you can get is the vics email address, then so be it.

The sooner the better on this one

Presuming he is in Aus I may be able to make or recieve a qucik call as well

It's unfortunate. Love baits are the worst. I can't get enough of saying that. They play on people's hearts, and the affected people DO NOT want to believe it. I've attempted many times to help people who are in trouble this way. I've had people contact me for help (the vic's best friend... or The vic's themselves). I've come through on merely a few, most of the time they think I'm lying. But my hopes are when they ask for money via. Western Union and help with their dying grandfather and their new cell phones. They will remember what I've said. You just need to plant the seed, the rest happens on it's own.

You are 100% right love vics are the worst to deal with, with practice and lots of patience you will get more to believe you.

I find having the approach of helping them to prove it isn't a scam first so shut up their friends and family who have been telling them for 6 months he is a scammer, of course you can predict the next moves in most cases.

Something like;

"He seems he could be genuine, if he is a scammer he will end up stranded at the airport, I am sure you will see him when he is meant to be at the airport, all smiling with flowers or something for you"

Of course something will go wrong

"I am sure he has a good excuse, scammers will use these excuses";

You need to be their friend, their real friends may have all but given up hope and certainly take the vics side

I will also stress, writing to love vics will pay an enermous toll on anybody trying to convince them, specialist help and advice is freely available from experienced people at www.scamwarners.com

Love scams are especially brazen , they work on people emotions, and there are a lot of very lonely people out there, who
for no fault of there own are venerable to these parasites requests. And they say all the right things at the right time. How
many of us on here have wondered if in fact the bait is genuine. Then we read The Bat in the headers. or we do a trace
on the IP, and once again convince ourselves that it's a scam. Unfortunately many people can't do that, and they go along
with the scam, to embarrassed to tell someone , let alone ask for help. Until it's to late, and they have lost a fortune. And
have nothing to show for it.
This sort of script could convince anyone, It arrived today from one of my sluts, who I've had on the go for a few months,
And it would convince anyone who thought there was a chance of a bit of company or romance.

@Murry, Yeah I always come at them as a friend but a lot of times they say things like "You don't know him! I've seen him, he sent me pictures!" or "He's not a bad person, he's just in a bad area!" I ALWAYS point them here or to http://www.Scamwarners.com

@weareborg, It's unbelievable! I've got several Russians on the loop right now, and they are ruthless.
