I was summoned to a "friendly chat" with human resources the other day. Evidently I was in the top ten of internet users at work last month. She had some stats in front of her, and the amount of "pings" that gmail was doing through the servers was staggering Smile

And we can only get access between noon and 2pm.

That't the opinion I was going to take, as I always do. However, I assumed 12-2 is a lunch break, and so therefore allowed. If not, then big Confused

With work and "friendly chats" its best to desist.

those friendly chats can quickly become something far more sinister like introductions to p45 chats.

Baiting is fun, but dont let it get in the way of work breaks -the ones between tea breaks and lunch breaks Wink

Ouch, I'm an IT guy myself, this company you work for is full of IT/HR Nazi's! If they don't want you visiting Gmail how about blocking it? If they can monitor this activity they surely can block it too, they setting folks up to take the fall. In this case I'd argue that there's nothing nefarious about personal email, geesh!

Well yes, I think the "friendly chat" was a sort of warning shot and believe me I've taken it seriously Smile

Professional services is taking a real hit at the moment in revenue, we're all being made to justify ourselves, and I'm sorry to report that baiting isn't in my job description, shame though it is!

Actually I was doing no more surfing than I usually do, it just amused me that the gmail auto refresh was sending our servers crazy, and that's what they monitor.
