I haven't clicked on the 'view status here' link, so be careful. Never heard of the company. Link is live in the email but don't know if it will be here. Date is messed up even though I received it today.

Thanks Bill2,

While doing what you suggested I accidentally did open it. It just turned out to be an incentive for completing an offer to open a credit card. Sheesh!

I see quite a few of those. They put it in the fake order confirmation format because they know that a lot of people will see it, panic because they think their spouse/ significant other/a thief is placing orders on their charge card, and click on the link to find out how to cancel or challenge the (non-existent) order. The link will lead to advertising or phishing sites, depending on who is sending it.

Our shelter gets "paypal" emails at least once a week confirming our paypal "payment" for a porn site. When the poor unsuspecting recipient clicks on the link to challenge it, afraid they are going to be accused of buying porn (especially when it is a business address), they are led straight to a paypal phish, of course.
