Jailed drug dealer scammer?

I just read today for the first time a scammer email from a guy who says he's a "Drug Baron" and he's in prison. His thing is he needs help with his account containing $6......5million in one of his international bank accounts, and he needs help because the acct has been dormant since he's been locked up, and it needs "re-activated".

I'd never seen this type before. I wonder if anyone knows if this one is a newer thing they're trying, or if it's older and simply not seen as often?

I have to also say, that it is probably one of the stupidest scam emails I've ever read! The guy should have done some homework before writting it, really. He claims he was smuggling drugs from Canada to Mexico, and got stopped at the mexican border, and is now in jail in Panama! Shocked

Maybe in his world they are all beside each other?

i think that who the scammer claims to be is not the important part of his story, as long as he has a reason why he needs your help to access a huge amount of money. there are probably lots and lots of these fake characters padding out the stories.

the friend who told me about this site after my grandmother was scammed said that there was once a story about an astronaut Exclamation

Its not a bad modality...I am just preparing an ASEM which Im gonna mail to every lad i can find. Complaining about being locked up in harmondsworth detention centre as an illegal alien. Its a major pain as I have buried A trunkbox full of cash and diamonds buried in darkest Chad..

The astronaut stories (there's also one about an astronaut stuck on Mars) are probably "seeded" by a baiter. Wink

This one could be baiter-generated as well. At least Americans who read it are more likely to laugh and toss it than respond. (Although I'm not holding out a lot of hope for the geographically-impaired.)

How about telling him you don't want to do business with someone dumb enough to get arrested and imprisoned?

Thanks for all your thoughts on this. I guess it makes sense that they'd try anything. Although one would think they'd not choose a drug dealer modality, because honestly, who wants to help an imprisoned drug dealer? (well, in the way of real victims!) I'm going to give it a go. I just want to see what other stupid stuff this guy is capable of! I'm going to have to ask him what kinds of drugs he was smuggling, and if he was doing them! I bet this'll be great fun!

The astronaut thing is too much! LMAO! I guess you never know what kinds of scams you'll run into!
