phpBB is common, perhaps a phpBB mod (not short for moderator) that would fetch mail via IMAP from gmail, parse, and post as a bot to surplus. the parsing bit would probably be beyond the scope of the forum module. RL has me speaking with engineers and programmers being neither myself.

All well and good, indeed I was thinking about something similar myself, but there's massive value in having a pair of eyeballs in the process, otherwise surplus will just end up chock full of irrelevant spam, and become useless, or also be overwhelmed by similar unexciting formats whereas a bit of human attention can just promote select, interesting ones to keep new baiters interested whilst they build up their own catchers.

A tool to speed up the job would be preferable - filter out the baiters address, remove rogue HTML tags, etc and make it easy to copy/paste into surplus?

Just so no-one needs to re-invent the wheel. We've looked into this several times over the last few years, and currently something is being created to automate catcher accounts and scam emails.

It's still being built and tested.
