Hey

I've created a wiki for all of us to use to share info etc like someone suggested. Feel free to put any Lad info you want in it, If we tried we could make a great resource.

If you have any ideas post below, or better feel free to implement them its the communities wiki, No NSFW pictures without a tag/warning is my only like rule at the minute

That's not good. Have you tried Byethost? I use it for my fake websites in conjunction with co.cc for a domain name. Their FTP is iffy, but it works great besides that.

The idea itself is one which has been contemplated many times, by many people including myself. I think clarification is needed when you say

I suggested something similar, and a few members & mods told me that it was not a good thing to do.

One of the reasons were it could be open to abuse. What's to stop me putting my twice removed half sister's husband who I hate, onto it? There would be no way of verification in that sense.

There are numerous other reasons, none of which I can recall at this moment.

I'm willing to take people opinions on this, I think just what sort of scripts the lad likes etc any warnings etc, If you throw your ideas in and the general consensus of the community will become the ruling

Well, if you want 100% democracy, you want 100% openness as well, or people will abuse the modality to fling mud around. Oh, and for me, i'm NOT giving 100% openness myself, it's the intarwebz after all. I think a standard baiter wiki would be OK, but i can't make sure ladz don't use it to their advantage as well, which is exactly the opposite of what we want to reach. The eater univ might be a better plan, once updated a bit more (the wiki didn't have many pages as far as i could see).

I just posted this Oetting page to the wiki. It is meant as an example. Would this be the thing you had in mind? Others could add information on a scammer. And I abbreviated the phone-numer and omitted the e-mail, so that it would not be seen as an invitation to molest the scammer. I guess if we want to encourgae massbait, we should do it in a forum that is at least behind a login like "SCAMBAITING HELP, HINTS & TIPS" or "SURPLUS 419 SCAM LETTERS".

I applaud this kind of effort, but it needs to be watched closely to prevent abuse. And not just of the sort that Craig007 raised above (if anyone can contribute, how can we be sure that all entries are real fraudstars), although this is a very serious concern as it could easily be used as a tool for flame wars and abuse from all sorts of people not affiliated with eater.

I am thinking more about lads' ability to edit the wiki themselves. Take the Oetting page posted by e6ffdyr0 - suppose Oetting comes across it and edits the page "Confirmed - not a scammer". This kind of possibility seriously undermines the purpose of the wiki - if it becomes a major resource it would take an awful lot of time to keep up with new edits.

Also - the issue of anonymity.... the usual concern about IP addresses applies here (IPs are displayed in history for any non-username edit, right? probably want to change this if it's possible). such as this page:

I guess w/ the possiility of everybody editing it w/o control (as it comes for the eater through the mods) it is a very risky tool. If we cannot trust the information inside to be acurate and must take care not to encourage lad-abuse *) ... what good would it bring?

A solution could be to put it behind a login and let in only trusted baiters or post login-details at the Preium-forum or a similar place. Then we could exchange more advanced stuff there, we wouldn't want to exchange with the mods (e.g. I know Oettings passport number and account details, could share some of his mails with header and some info on his Nigerian contacts).

On the other hand, we have the eater for storing information on lads and to be honest, I rarely took the effort (in my active days) to look-up ladinfo. Most of the time I just follwed my own bliss in all my baits and only when serious efforts where to be taken (e.g. to earn a badge) I digged in the old threads. So perhaps the idea might not really work.

I would rather like to see a honeypot wiki somewhere to post bogus to desinform lads about modalities like this one i made up once.

*) normally I would encourage lad abuse, but on the wiki I'd be afraid that n00b wannebees and furius victims take unconsidered action or that rough-baiters and jerks post their neibours or ex-girlfriends number. Or lads edit the contact details (not too probable, though). For that reason I assumed that on such a wiki real details had to be abbreviated.

I like the idea. Please clarify what the purpose of the site? Should it be to post lad info as stated? or perhaps to exchange modalities, forms.. etc? Perhaps a glossary of lad terms such as dollar chopper, maga, guyman etc, for the newcomer? I'de be glad to help in any way possible. LMK

Definetly block the ranges from Africa, maybe Russia too.

You may also want to mess with the robots.txt to make sure it won't get spidered.
