OK then. I think it's hard to narrow down the particular scam you mean. You are probably more familiar with it than we are. Without an e-mail, it does make it harder.

Can you recall the e-mail address?

A check scam is a check scam they very rarely differ in result even if the approach sometimes changes. Guy sends fake check for victim to cash. If said victim cashes the check a whole heap of trouble ensues as the bank recover their losses from the victims bank account. It is unlikely we will know any scammers identity by his name or the name he uses to scam people as it would be impossible to keep such tabs on these scammers.

Was the email like this from Dr. Chiang Chen? if so, then yes, it's a fake cheque scam called the "representative scam":

In that case yes, typical representative scam, you keep 10% (mostly 10% some only say 5%) as your commission and send the 90% back to them.

Be careful, you'll be getting emails from the FBI next, no, I'm not joking, they do that a lot to threaten real victims and baiters Laughing

already got them. from another scam. FBI telling me they checked out RED DOT and that it is ok for me to proceed and do what they tell me to.
