Anyone ever tried having their K7 voicemail have a greeting that goes as follows? :

Hello?

Hello? Is this Mr. crackle...crackle...lliams? I can't hear you. Can you get a better phone?

Pause

I got your email. I still can't hear you. Hello? Call me back later!

Pause

I mean, that kind of tricks people here sometimes. I can't imagine the mugus would have any idea they're talking to a machine unless they call over and over again.

Mugus have a habit of calling more than once - they'd probably twig that it was the exact same message each time.

Also, wouldn't the *beep* that comes after the greeting telling people to start talking give it away a bit?

Nice idea, but might not work =/

I like to burn their dollas by putting a maximum length greeting on those services. Something like "You have reached the **** Foundation. Please hold while we connect you to <character says their name>" followed by LONG on-hold music then "This is <character>. I am currently out of the office or on another line etc"

My favorite hold music is "Misirlou" by Dick Dale and the Del-Tones.

I've got a script pending on a 50p/min line - goes a bit like this...

"Welcome to WU MTCN Secure Transfer Services. The sender does not know the MTCN, but will have given you a code to enter to securely receive it. Please enter your first digit"
<enters digit 2>
"Two. Thank you. Please enter your next digit or hold for an operator"
<enters anything>
"Thank you. Please enter your next digit or hold for an operator"
(loops)

Also fun is the fact that entering 3 will respond "Four". Just for shits and giggles.

Having problems with the provider just now, but I'll post the number for all to use when I can get it working.

How does that work with the scammers cell phones? I assume most of them are on pre-paid sim cards down there that they have to refill. Would the phone company be able to take the charges out of their credits?

Also, yeah, I think there are some better ideas for voicemail intros, I just came up with something off the top of my head.

I got the idea because every time I hear them call a scammer on the scambaiters radio show, its always 20 seconds of "hello? hello? Who is this?"

Maybe a simple 'Hello?' followed by a 10 second pause and then "Wireless service interrupted. SCREECH SCREECH SCREECH SCREECH SCREECH SCREECH"

Anyway, I'll give it a try on a new bait and see if it works at all.

My other idea is 2 K7 Lines. One that goes to an office voicemail that says "I will be out of the country. Please leave a message or call me on my cell at K7line2" and then the K7 line 2 will say "The wireless customer you are trying to reach is currently out of range. Please try again later".

Should work well for safaris.

No need to full quote a message directly above, just use "^^" - OD

Oh I'm sure once the charges are there it will be tough, yeah.

I just meant to ask if it automatically charged their phone, or if they would have to input a credit card number to continue, or if the call simply wouldn't go through because of the billing setup.

I'm sure you'll find all our lads understand all about putting credit on their phones - most of the developing world has little landline infrastructure but well-developed mobile networks. The cunning plan is just to eat their credit as quickly as possible. Is that mean? Well it stops them calling vics, so I won't lose sleep over some scammer trying to get another scammer's MTCN from an ASEM spending all his credit Smile Hence my (robot-voiced) message to keep them on the line as long as possible Smile

i tried it previouly, if it were a very long message it would work to waste their credits.

but if i remember correctly, at the end of the message the K-7 voice sez something, so you would be busted.

it's been a while, maybe I am mistaken.

Right, I realize that they understand the cell and they put money on them. My question was asking if toll numbers could deduct from pre-paid cell phones, or any phones in nigeria for that matter.

I 100% support it, I'm just wondering if it can actually be done.

Oh, BTW, I gave the "Hello?" thing a try on my K7. The recording time isn't very long, so its not long before the voice thing comes on asking you to send a fax or leave a message. I'll give it a try on some throw-away mugus and see if it works.

I've just emailed a few telecoms companies here requesting a super premium expensive tariff for my scammers to call me on which will go through to an automated answering machine voice script, £1.50 per minute $2.15 seems a little bit generous, I want one that is a lot more expensive than that!

£3.00 a minute sounds about right. Obviously I'd have a range of voices ready and waiting for them.

I do like that idea up there getting them to press digits on their mobile phone pads, one digit between each voice instruction, that could really string it out a bit!

Similarly, if you get a lads mobile number, I wonder if it's possible to get an automated number to call their mobile and reverse the charges at a super expensive premium rate? That'd be hilarious!

The highest regular call cost in the UK is the 090 block (upto £1.50/min), they are not callable from overseas, but the 070's sometimes are. The 070 I use has had a couple of frustrated calls from lads, although I can't guarantee it was from overseas.

Edit: there's no such thing as reverse billing for premium calls/mobiles in the UK (or anywhere sane, surely?).

Most everything down there is a cash economy, hence pre paid billing. And when the credits are used up on the phones, they are gone.
