Hacker Scammer

Anyone ever see a hacker scammer? Offering to sell bank logins and such? I have been talking to one for a few days now. He swears up and down he is from Pakistan but everything I get on him shows Ghana. I have been trying to act like a young lad but he will not give up on his story. He sent me a screen shot of an HSBC page where he had transferred money from someones account to his own. It looks photoshoped to me.

Anyone have an experience with this kind of scammer? This guy goes by something like h@ckl@bs.

Yes, this is a fairly new modality that isn't very widespread yet, but I've seen quite a few variations on the theme -- offering to sell access codes, or ways to break into WU, or change an amount already in the system by adding a few zeros etc. I guess the only upside here is that the people who might fall for such ploys are obviously criminally-minded themselves. So the scammers get scammed by other scammers. Keep it in the family and all that. Wink

EDIT TO ADD: these clowns don't really have ways to do what they claim, so they're only pretending to be hackers.

You think it would be ok to post the screen shot? The information looks out of line so I am pretty sure it is fake. I can also put the yahoo chat on here if anyone is interested.

One would think that a scam like this wouldn't be very effective. If the hacker has the means to access bank accounts, WU, etc, why would he waste his time selling his services when he could just hijack one millionaires bank account and be set for life.

But, alas, apparently people must fall for regardless.

I'm sure they'll pull a few greedy vics with this modality, but as with many of these scams, application of a little logic says that anybody who can hack a banking system is unlikely to need to spam people to make money. . .

I was trying to catch him saying something about God to say he was not in pakistan but I think he is pretty smart so he caught my catch.

I really don't see a problem if he's only trying to scam other scammers and people who would try to hack other people's bank accounts.

Seriously, I don't think innocent people would fall for this.

Like has been said, if he can hack any bank in the world, why would he try to sell this to you?

here's how I might respond:

"Listen noob, I really don't need to deal with you. I've got my own program and I can hack my way into Paypal or any bank I want. I just can't use it very often, otherwise the FTC can trace me back home and send me to federal prison. I only use it when I'm really short of cash and I make sure to triple-mask my IP so I can't be traced.

I'd send you the link, but you're such an amateur that you'd get caught and lead the cops to my house.

You'd have it yourself by now if you knew anything about the Internet. But, you don't have it and I do.

Some "hacker" you are."

If he pushes you for the link, so he can "try it out", send a variant of Last Option that I can PM to you. Just don't click the link yourself or your computer will hate you for it. It's not a virus. Just a prank site that scares the genitals off of people who click on it.

That's just my opinion, though. I'm just a twisted /b/tard by nature.

That's correct as we fight criminals and don't want to be like them. Why lower ourselves to the scammer's level?

Lets just say that the screen shot is genuine for a moment.

Using my own on-line bank ...I could set up an online payment for whatever amount/payee I wanted and take a screen shot before cancelling the details/payment provided I made the cancellation on the same day.

I don't think most of the lads are lying about having the bank logins they just don't use the term hacker correctly. They are getting all this login info from phishing and in the lads mind that is hacking. If you go into a Yahoo Chatroom that discusses hacking or internet security you will be flooded with people trying to sell you all kinds of different logins and credit card numbers. I actually dont think most of the scammers doing this are from Africa though I have run into some that are but I have come across many from Pakistan and India.

He did tell me that he got the logins through phishing. The reason I say he is from Africa is because his email showed Ghana.

There are definitely Africans doing this as well but from what I have encountered I dont think they are the majority like they are with most of the other scams we deal with. I noticed most of them like to use EGOLD for payment instead of Western Union. I like to act like I'm interested and place an order with them and once they give you their account number go report it to e-gold.com to have it shut down along with any money they hopefully have in their account. Once they give you an account number tell the lad it's not working so they give you another account and do this as many times as you can so you can have them all shut down at once. It's easy for them to open another account but hopefully you can get one with some money in it.
