Here's an interesting site I just came across:

The guy is offering a CD with the names and addresses of 30,000 "gifting addicts," who it seems are people that can't resist chain letters asking them to send $100 to you, in hopes of even greater gain to them. It's all quite open, and quite possibly totally legal, but obviously total scumbaggery. He wants to rip off his own customers, who buy the CD in hopes of ripping off a lot more people. He says he's now providing one million leads a month, i.e., he's selling about 30 of his CD's at $195 each, which would make him a pretty successful scammer.
He gives his contact information openly:

Of course, he only sells names and mailing addresses (not email addresses), and he only corresponds by email, which makes me think he is actually somewhere else (Nig5ria, maybe?) and that mailing address is only a maildrop serviced by somebody who deposits his checks for him.
Anyway, I wonder if there's any way to bait this a$$hole? If you care to, have at [email protected].
It wouldn't bother me at all if somebody doing a search on the guy's name came across this post in the context of 419 scams. |

The address and city do exist. I have been to that town quite a few times actually. I think this guy is preying on people who want to prey on others. Basically cashbaiting in a round about way. |

I sent the guy an email. I'm curious as to where he's actually working from.
I don't think I'm going to bait him, but we'll see where it goes.

Anyone got any media contacts? If he was in the UK I can think of at least two radio programs who would love to drop in and chat to him.
If there was any justice someone would buy the list and use it to send out a copy of the webpage and a warning letter. |
