I responded to a relationship scammer a few days ago. Impressive "She" actually held out for two emails before converting to a 419.

You don't need to rush to send a picture. Just be patient and waste its time. Rename a .dll file to .gif or .jpg and send that. Do that a couple of times and, of course, you don't know why they can't open the file. There must be something wrong with their computer. They will probably just give up asking for the picture.

Don't bother pointing out that there are two different people in their pictures. That might be enough to warn off some other potential victim.

Also look for ways to de-educate. "Oh are you in the...( Salvation Navy, United Open...etc.) refugee camp over near Rufisque (or make up a city name)?"

I'm looking to give the scammer openings to bring in other characters, thereby making them more busy and increasing the confusion factor.

Also, I've heard of using .dll files to screw them up. Do I just use any .dll file on my computer or are there ones I should avoid?

Don't actually change the .dll file name of the original file. Make a copy of an older one someplace else on your computer and than change the name of that file. I don't think it matters which file you use, but I'm sure some of the more experienced people will be along soon to advise.

Also don't try to over complicate the situation just yet. The idea is for you to do as little work as possible, and to keep them busy. Don't over-think it and try to be too elaborate. Try to drag it out.

ALWAYS be sure to make a copy of a .dll file before renaming it. They can be vital to your PC working correctly. But as long as you do a copy, paste, and then rename that you will be fine. It doesn't really matter which file you use either.

I've made several with different extensions titled "passport" "mypicture" etc, save them in a baiting folder and just use them over and over for different baits.

You may use any DLL file off your system you want. The larger, the better.

Simply copy any DLL to a new name, such as "myface.jpg", "passport.jpg" or what you like. If you like to increase confusion, you can open the copy with a text editor and convert the first lines with some photgraphic stuff, such as "jpg produced 20090206" or similar.

In a recent nice little bait with a gentleman from Ghana, I sent him a real JPG instead of a binary (Using Linux, I normally give them some renamed kernel stuff to chew on).

I am not sure whether thermographics have been used with baits so far. It was a nice experience. My friend down in Accra got really upset when I told him after his sixth enquiry that my photograph was sent clear and perfectly visible on my computer screen.

For an example, just have a look at this (this is a lent picture I found in the depth of the net. Condider it just for demonstration. The colour scaling at the right side would need some Gimp or Photoshop treatment, of course).

The thermoimaging is a great idea. If you don't mind, I'm going to take your pic and 'shop out the scale to possibly use in this and other baits.

I also came across a really cool ASCII camera online (thank you StumbleUpon) that works off your webcam.

There's also an "alien cam" and a "kaleidoscope cam" that I plan to use in making some completely unusable pictures with. Think George Bush's face translated into ASCII. Razz
