^^Anthony Bourdain. He wrote "Kitchen Confidential". It's a good book, but read it with caution. I avoided restaurants for a good while after I read it, though I feel I have a much better sense of what to avoid now. I won't order swordfish, especially on a Sunday night.  |

He is just one of those guys who gets on my nerves. He is an arrogant arse and such a pretentious prick (I know, ironic me calling someone that). Some people love him and I do hear that his books are quite good. But he is such a snob. |

I think anyone that toils away in the kitchens of NYC for 20 years gets to be a snob once he finally escapes. His books are good (although "Kitchen Confidential" is far and away the best), and if he's guilty of anything, it's trying to elevate people's sense of the world through taste. He's honest in that he tries his best to get down to authentic regional fare, and not just tour the top restaurants of Europe.
Stated another way, he ate the rectum of a wild pig roasted in a pit of sand in Africa. |

I really, really enjoy his show. I guess it's the fact that I once toiled in kitchens and that his style of presenting the show is much like the musing of a Beat poet.
