Article on Military.Com 419-type email scam using real name
This article appeared in Military.Com, a website devoted to the US military.
The writer does appear not to know much about 419 scams, and is shocked
that scammers would use the name of a real person in a scam.
The email address of the scammer is now out of service (I tried it).

The writer claims to already have survived two suicide bomb attacks, and now
wants someone trustworthy to take custody of his share of the money until he
gets out -- asking them to contact him at [email protected].

I've had these lads send me military Id card scans. Some have been hilarious photoshop productions. A few have been actually military Ids which have been altered. When they do this I tell them that they're fake and not real and give them a million reasons why. I dont want them to use them for this and they are definitely a military security violation. From time to time I forward them on to friends of mine who are Security Police in the air force or to my brother who is in the army to let them deal with it. WTF are these are doing scanning IDs and sending them online is anyone's guess. |
