Set up a facebook account under totally fake info.
Respond to one of his ads, and show interest in the item he is selling. Ask lots of questions, one at a time. Don't forget to check his email headers (unless he is using fastmail or gmail) to see if you can identify where he really is--it may be Washington, but not likely. The phone number is New York, not Washington, and may be a mule's.
Or if you still feel uncertain that he is a scammer, ask him for something that doesn't exist but is close to real (e.g. a color that model doesn't come in, a slightly different spec.) Many (but not all) scammers will miraculously have what you are asking for. |
