@Gaz- on picture quality... make sure to set the resolution to the "native resolution" of the LCD. If you don't, it definitely will look blurry. Look at the specs on the box or at the website. Set it there, and leave it. If it's wrongly set, the text will look the worst. The edges will not look crisp and straight.
edit: For example, most 15" lcds have a native resolution of 1024x768.
17" is usually 1280x1024.
