Hi all, I'm new here and have a potential problem.
Someone keeps calling and texting my wife's cell phone from number 234-702-513-3800. I think 234 is the country code, does anyone know what country 234 is from? Anyway she got about 15 calls over a weekend and then they stopped for about a month, now this moring she recieved 2 calls. We call the celled phone provider and they were no help.
My wife didn't answer any of the calls because she didn't recognize the number.
The texts are all very similar, here is one of them "Hi, my name michael, i liketo make a friend with you.Please i want you to be my friend.Please call me with this number.07025133800,God bless you"
When he leaves a voice mail they are mostly the same as the text, but this morning's was, "My name is Michael, I want to talk to you, please call. Bye bye."
I'm sure this has to be a scam of some kind, but I haven't heard of them making direct calls. Does anyone have any info on scams like this? |

Sounds a possible romance scam. 234 is the Nigeria dialing code. |

234 is a code for Nigeria. This site can help find international codes
http://www.countrycallingcodes.com/Reverse-Lookup.php
07025133800 looks like a UK number but don't be fooled.
It is supplied by a company like UKNumber. It is free.
The lads use these a lot as the company's cost are paid by the caller.
The number can be used to redirect the call to any number in the world.
This adds to the callers costs as the caller also pays for the redirect.
Baiters also use these at times, but I fear some of the lads are becoming wary of it use by us. |

If you can't block it on the phone, just never answer again, he will stop soon as there's no money in calling a useless number. |
