Basically I have a stand alone divx compatible dvd player. I put a whole bunch of movie AVIs on a disk (like 6 on 1) and they work perfectly... dvd player menu comes up and everything
But what I would like to know is if you can put designed menus on the DVD? Like you know how on say The Simpsons DVDs they have the colorful menus where you can choose which episode you want and stuff... can a program do that for burned AVIs? They are not the same as DVD format so... |

You can put the menus on to the disk but it requires that your dvd player is DivX Ultra certified
If that is the case you can use software like TMPGEnc. |

Yes. You can design your menu's in photoshop (or equivalent) - Then put it onto any number of programs available to make the buttons. (I spent 3 weeks of fiddling and manuals to figure it out. You'll need to do the same)
Making animated menus is the same process, but you will need to capture your video, integrate it into your design and then render that sequence into 30 second loops. You can use Premier or After Effects. Again, took weeks to get it right and working perfectly. It can be done. As this is a home project with different AVI files (I assume downloaded TV shows?) I wouldn't go to all that bother. I've designed and built 100's of these and initially you will be tearing your hair out. There may be a newer easier program that will just 'do it' for you. If you find it, let me know.
The 'stills' coloured, original menu's are very easy to make. Unless someone is paying you to do it, save yourself the nightmare.

@NN
yeah its TV shows and actually some movies too. Like I have the entire Simpsons Seasons from 1-10 on my external hard drive in AVI format and they will fit onto one DVD and I want to make a menu that supports them. I really dont want to have to use Photoshop and everything...
I will try Finice's program and see if it works |
