I want to erase a modem from my computer and reinstall it after my computer crashed and I lost the contents of it's file. It's still showing under add & remove software but the file has no size assigned to it.
When I try to delete it I get a RUNLL message saying
Quote: |
Error loading intelsdi.dll
The specific module could not be found. |
The modem is a intel(R) 536EP
Thnx

I use CCleaner. Its free from Download.com and has a cleaner, registry fixer and a uninstall utility. |

Probably worth checking device manager, and uninstall it there. You may need to re-install the driver manually afterwards, or sometimes windows will use plug n play to do it for you. If you have a driver disc, have it handy, or make a backup first (although it sounds like yours is screwed anyway.)
To start Device Manager:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
3. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
4. Right click, the device. (modem)
5. Click uninstall
6. Reboot
It sounds to me like the driver has already been uninstalled, but the system hasn't recognized the fact yet.
ETA In Ccleaner you can click tools and remove the driver from the Add/remove list, as it's showing 0 size, it technically isn't there anyway. Maybe that'll cure it. |

Have you tried right-clicking the Intels51.inf and choose install. |

Is the modem still listed in the device manager? If so, try to update driver from there with the 'have disk' option, pointing at your desktop as the path to include. |

Did anyone else read the thread title at first glance as "How do I get rid of a empty life?"?
I must be feeling slightly nihilistic today! |
