Ok so I have a lot of AVI movies saved on my external hard drive and I just decided to want to burn them onto DVDs. So I;m doing some research, and I see that DVD players can play AVI files. Wow that's pretty cool I say...

and then I look in my parent's bedroom and I see that their DVD player can play AVIs!!!! Its a philips dvp642...

so now I can put like 6 movies onto one dvd instead of only 1!!!

does anyone have any suggestions for other cheap dvd players that can do this... maybe you have one or something?

from what ive read the philips dvp#### are the best for this

You can go to any electronics store and ask the sales staff.

I know you can get one that will play AVI's for about $80 AUD. It's a no-name brand with generic parts.

Does the material contained on those .avi files have anything to do with the inference contained in your your avatar? If so, shame on you. Wink

My wife buys alot of dvds from over seas and sells them here in oz we have found the cheap players will play more formates than the expensive ones an alde player for $30 will play what a $300 Harvey Norman player wont . Plus there is a place some were on the net that you can get codes to make players play other formats

are they related to my avatar... shame on you PF!!!

basically the dvp642, 3140, 5100 are all really cheap (like 30-40 USD) and do all this stuff...

never buy a $300 one... and these ones have a free region code as well

@skyhook

so where do you sell them? oz? you mean kansas? lol

@Simpson, I've found that the cheap $25 Apex brand seem to play everything.

Besides why burn them? Take the next step and put them on a server and stream them to your tv. Thumbs up

How the F do you do that? I don't think so...

I would just hook up my laptop to my tv with the blue cable, but I would rather have hard copies
