Are there standards for avatars? -
I appreciate that people put a "Not Suitable For Workplace" warning on posts that contain potentially work-offensive materials; however, some personal avatars that appear in posts are a bit over the top for my workplace. Embarassed

I'm sorry if this is in the FAQ / Stickies and I missed it.

It's not and we like to discuss this subject every three month anyway Laughing

the avatars are decent, meaning not showing any parts that shouldn't be showed, it might be a tad above the A rating, but certainly not too bad.
All you can do is get more colleagues to join the eater and your problem is solved Laughing

On the other hand, you can choose not to see the avatars if you run FireFox and a Add-on that will block the Avatars that you don't think are appropriate.
And then they are certainly not pornographic and I assume that everyone at the job site is over 18 so there should not be a problem at all. Wink

I've had 3 avatars banned during my early days here. One was a bit disgusting, one was a bit offensive, and the other one caught a Mod on a bad day. Wink

So, it's like pornography -- we know it when we see it -- usually.

Please forward any pornography to my attention.

True enough! Actually, right after I posted this I realized an easy work-around: I simply move the window over to the left so the vatar column is off screen. Problem solved. duh! typing

I'll try to find that add-on again for FireFox then once clicked on it will never show again and you, your colleagues and kids are safe. The avatars might be a tad...., but what else do we have to express ourselves/personalize it here on the eater forum, one small picture and a signature line. Confused

EDIT: it's Adblock Plus 1.0 click on the avatar you think might.... and it's gone for ever until it's changed by the owner

But then you don't know that brilliant post you just read was written by Jojobean. Or that stupid, useless one was written by Slightly Out Of It or JMRazor. I mean, after a while you will learn that all stupid posts are done by those two and the brilliant ones... well, I don't want to brag. Laughing

I have heard the Firefox add-on does work quite well though.

In your browser options you can also disable images from view. Also saves your bandwidth. Great for people on dial-up! Very Happy
