Over my semi-short baiting career, I have baited many lads with the offer of 20% in return for their help retrieving their millions. I have tried and have seen many other baiters try in vain to get the lads to change that percentage to no avail. Even though they know there is nothing there, I've seen some so adamant it's almost unbelievable. Rolling Eyes

I have finally pounded a lad into submission, and in only a couple mails Very Happy

At this junction, I will like you to send to me your complete name and address, Telephone Number, profession and your age, this will assist me sworn an affidavit of oat at the High Court of Abidjan stating that I am transferring the ownership of the fund to you as the rightful beneficiary. After my swearing the Affidavit at the Court, I will send you all information about the money so that you can contact the bank and ask the Bank to transfer the money to your account in your country, also along with the Deposit Certificate which the Bank issued to my late father upon his depositing of the fund with them.

I didn't think they'd actually give in, so I'd figure why not make them do some work for me.

That's a good idea NN, after all I'm putting up the capital. I'll increase it as a penalty when I burn through the foul barristers.

Its really strange isn't it? They treat it as if it were real money. On an initial letter I was offered 30% or so of a multi million dollar fortune and I asked if I could have 40%. I got an email back, begging, pleading even not to do this to him. He said the increased percentage would cripple him financially and he just wouldn't budge. Sometimes you have to wonder if they believe their own stories?

I think it comes down to control and lad ego. Lads need to be in control and once you start negotiating the percentage early in the bait it throws them off script.. In my experience, they view you as "not serious in this business" and ditch you for easier meat.

I just find it funny that they argue the toss about percentages of something that they know doesn't exist.

Something that's puzzled me is why do they choose the initial sum to be such an astronomical figure such as $25,000,000 or $16.8 million and so on, why not pick a more realistic figure of say $500,000 or even less - after all it's free money for the vic.

Is it that they all consider us (as in westerners etc) to be so rich that only a massive figure would be sufficient enough to draw us in with our un-controllable greed ?

I think the astronomical numbers are to play on peoples dreams of hitting it big. We don't dream of hitting the lotto for 2,000 but 2,000,000 now you're talking! Not to mention they want their fees to be in the thousands and you can't do that if the total amount is almost the same amount.

... they will salivate over the riches. And you will have excuses for all kinds of tax related forms.

pfft, just give him the percentage of the MTCN that he's offering you in trunkbox money. I.E. 25% of the money gets him 2.5 numbers of the mtcn.

I never argue with percentages.

If the Lad wants 80%, then when the invoice arrives for the payment I slap him around for his 80% of the fees needed to release the funds.

That way I get to see the whiny, excuse filled mails about how a high powered barrister and a high paid banker suddenly have no money... Laughing

I love the wife is in the hospital and the kid needs an operation excuses since that opens doors to new modalities about contacting the hospital to send flowers and such.
