Is my Lad Bluffing

I've had a lad on the go for about three months, his charracters are all based in London although his IP points to Lagos. After many delaying tactics, re-formating forms, documents, firing 3 Lawyers my charracter (based in New York) who's mother has just died has decided to travel to London to complete in person.
I was expecting some panicky mails as in " No don't travel, this business can only be completed online" etc but no, the Barrister has said he will meet me and hold up a sign with my baiting name on.

Whats the chances that he's bluffing, or will there be an accomplice there?. He made a very big point of making sure I had "The Fee" in cash.

Strangely enough I am traveling to London tomorrow for a few days, my character is due to arrive at 06:35 Tues morning, I'm hlaf tempted to go along to arrivals and see if I can see him.

These people are criminals and will try to get the Fee from you or settle for your wallet, passport, cell phone and anything nice you might carry on you.

Chances are if the meet is going to happen, it will be an associate who's based in the UK. They're not likely to travel. But you never know with lads, they might be dumb enough to jet out over to sunny England for you.

Also, I'd advise against going. If I remember correctly, there are certain places in London where you can watch on a webcam, can't remember the link but this would be perfect for you to observe if he shows or not in the comfort of your own home!

Why not show up if you're in the area, nice and busy, have a coffee, as long as all you want to do is watch i don't see a problem, bad idea taking photographs or video's unless you planned it well but to go have a look, why not?

I too will be in London. What says you we hit the town and waste that fee with wine and song and a few bargains down Oxford Street?

If a lad plans to meet you there, chances are good that he will not be alone.

Just describe your character as someone completely different in appearance than what you actually look like. You should be safe in an airport terminal.

The risk, just to see a guy(s) that might be the "friend/hired hand" of your scammer is rather high, they work in groups and will look around and watch the public, while you watch people?
Only when they feel safe and think to know who the victim is will they reveal/show the sign to that person. This is riskier for them than for you, the only time when RL meets the game where there might be a chance of getting identified-convicted-jailed or deported, they don't want that at all! And it can be any person, we had this nice video of a normal "well dressed" Caucasian guy, that turns out to be the helper of the lad.

I can't see any real harm in walking past somebody in a crowded airport simply to see if they actually turned up. You'd blend in with the thousands of other people there.

This has been done before and done safely. We don't encourage this modality as we can't know what will happen. However you are an adult with free will.

Personally I'd go for it - it'll be quite easy to spot your scammer('s associate) at 06:35 at Heathrow, but it's not worth a special trip (Heathrow is quite an expensive 15-min ride away from Paddington, or about an hour on the tube)

Thanks for all the replies. I hadn't planned this, the opportunity just presented it's self and I thought I might take advantage of it.

If I do go I wont try and take photo's, that's a dead give away and i suspect the lad wont be on his own, he'll have "minders" watching the crowd, trouble is I'm going to London on Monday for a family get together and am expecting a heavy night of it. I've then got to get to Heathrow from Tooting Bec for 06:35 on Tues which is when my character arrives, OK give it an hour to disembark, collect luggage, get thru immigration and I'd still have to be there for 07:35 and I'm not not sure if I'll be in any fit state. Cool

If I do I'll let you all know.
