has only received emails from lads.

I imagine that it's very similar to the nanny/au pair scam, you would need to pay for work visa's, deposits for accommodation, etc etc.
You have to give a lot of personal details when you apply, so he might be after those. That's quite a long shot though. |

It will be an overpayment scam with a fake cheque.
Either he can send a cheque for too much and ask you to send back the difference by WU, or they might send a cheque and then say they have changed their mind, please send the whole amount back by WU.

Sorry, read the original post wrong, I assumed you were maybe playing the part of a tutor or had placed a fake tutor advert, but it appears it was a random email, in which case, Newdonym's explanation will be the one if they want you to come to their country to be the tutor. |

They're usually targeted at people looking for employment on-line. I don't suppose they'd be sent out at random, unless some responses were to be expected though. |
