Well I have been reading these forums for a few months now and this is my first post here.

First let me say thanks to all the scam baiters who keep these assholes occupied so that what I am about to describe below doesn't happen too often.

My elderly uncle recieved an email some months agol telling him that he had won the lottery and was asked to put money upfront. He lost thousands from an already diminishing nest egg.

I don't know what to say except that the internet should come with a disclaimer that the elderly should use it with caution.

Any personal stories that gives you guys the motiviation to want to fuck these bastards?

Years ago a friend of mine was scammed. He lost more than money. I watch him fall into a deep depression when I was powerless to help. I started researching this type of scam and found this place. It gave me a outlet. One that I still use everyday. My friend recovered after a awhile. I think he's okay now. I haven't told him what I do here. In some strange way he would consider this an unhealthy obsession. Personally, I do like the revenge I inflict daily. It's a great coping mechanism.

Welcome to Eater, funkymonkey. I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. It happens to a lot of innocent people these days. Every time I hear of another story, I pick up a few more lads to torture. The time-wasting we do to them protects a few more victims from being taken in. The punishment they receive from us is unfortunately the only punishment any of them ever receive. Victims never get their money back, they just get more scammers trying to take the very last bit of cash from them. We do all we can here to frustrate them. If you consider baiting with us, remember, it's very addicting. We'll give you all the help you need to get started.

9-11 scams.... to me they are the lowest of the low..

I actually enjoy making them hurt.... and I am a normally peaceful person.

There is loads of publicity about viruses, on-line and other scams. Anyone who hasn't heard of them is singularly uninformed. I don't blame victims for falling for scams.
Elderly people in general are vulnerable, but the elderly Internet users aren't typical old people. I don't see them as more at risk than younger people.

I would agree with the elderly internet user comment. My late grandfather got around on the internet better than I do I think when they get scammed the news sources jump on it faster than say some 30 something losing 1000.00 dollars.

I lurked on this forum for ages, just cracking up at some of the stories etc. Then I got an email at work (in the UK) from an American woman saying she'd sent a loan company based at my work address $5000 for a loan.

From my experience here I immediately told her to cut all communication with the "company" and pointed in the direction of some help for people in her situation (www.scamwarners.com etc). I never heard from her after those emails, but I've been in constant touch with the person who took money off her since then. He lost a bank account yesterday Laughing

All the motivation I needed to actively become a baiter was in that initial email from the American woman. She was desperate, and sounded at her wits end. I'll never forget that

I was lucky. I met two scammers on a dating site for persons with disabilities, but I suspected them when they fell in love so quickly with someone they didn't really know. Then one asked if I owned my home (strange question at that point) and the other one offered me a "job" (check-cashing), and I dropped them both.

I am on several dating sites that specifically cater to disabled persons, and I get contacted by scammers on a regular basis. That really disgusts me, and I turn them over to the folks here to shred. I don't bait them myself, for obvious reasons. Wink

There are a lot of innocent people who get hurt by just doing the "right thing". Individuals are phished for personal information with emails masquerading as banks, credit card companies and tax collection agencies.

My RL company gets a lot of phishing emails and we work with the legitiment banks and credit card companies to trace and kill the re-direct and phishing URL's as fast as we can. Many maybe half of these URL are on hacked web sites whose rightful owners don't have any idea that they are present.

I exchanged email with a victim of a overpayment scam who discovered the check was bad later. He saw his few hundred dollar loss as a life lesson. All he wanted to do was correct what he thought was an innocent mistake. I am sure he will be more reluctant to trust unknown people in the future. This hurts all of us.

I try to make as difficult as possible for scammers to victimize the innocent.

Although I can make the argument that the elderly can be more susceptible, the reality is that people who are in desperate straights and who are also willing to send $200 to get an ATM card with $800K on it will come from all walks of life. I am concerned that with a chaotic economy we will see more people willing to take that kind of risk.

I'm one of those who didn't get here because I knew of someone who fell for this. I instead got here as that I got mad when I got my first email about an over-invoiced oil contract, and I wanted to do something about it.

Our church supports a legitimate orphanage in Uganda and was scammed two years ago by a criminal who had hijacked the email account of our genuine contact there. The criminal impersonated our contact and submitted false reports of children eating grass and hundreds of people dying of cholera in the war torn northern part of the country.

A collection was taken up in the congregation which included a little girl's $100 Christmas present from her grandparents. We (myself and another church member involved with the orphanage) fell for his reasons as to why the money needed to be sent that particular time by Western Union.

After discovery of the fact, we then set up the criminal for another payoff by insisting that he open a bank account for the next transaction. He sent his brother who opened the account and was subsequently arrested. The brother served a small amount of time, paid a small portion of restitution and went on the lam. Warrants are still outstanding for both of them.

Shortly after the discovery, I came here.

I so want to get into scam baiting. I got contacted by a dying woman who wanted to give me millions and I baited her a little but she must have been burned by a baiter very badly because she wouldn't do any thing off script. Need assistance. Any veterans baiters up for the task? I think I wil take nurse nasty up on her offer.

While you wait for NN to answer your call...have you read all the stickies, and maybe checked out Eater University Forum?
There are great tips for keeping the lads busy. If this one is too tough for you at this stage, just grab a couple more. One is bound not to have run into a baiter before. Just act like a victim, until the payment stage, then try to get him off-script. Good luck! Very Happy

And this is exactly the feeling that I strive to make the lad experience. To feel absolutely cheated and broken in the end, frightened at the whole experience, and thinking that whoever is behind this real experience is looking to get even more out of him, or hunting him down and trying to completely destroy him. No mercy, no weapon is out of bounds to make him forever feel this way. They deserve to know that their crimes are not ok or sanctioned by God or however they justify them. They need to feel exactly the same way that their victims do, only worse. Evil or Very Mad

Unfortunately they are having problems getting black market petrol somewhere between br@zz@ville and l1b3rville.

No, that bait was rather unsucessful. She appeared and I couldn't get her off script and then she disappeared. I shall cherish her as my first bait. But now I wanna inflict some real pain.

Have you guys ever thought of key logging these assholes? I think that would be taking it too far but I can think of some ways I can hack a lads email accounts.

I didn't know you had to earn a sig line. That is reference to my first bait in which she sent me her bank account and I actually reported the account number to the bank but never heard from her again. If the mods want, I can remove it.
