Just when I thought I wasn't getting any bait, I received 2 e-mails in my spam box today that weren't concerning the size of my genitalia

1) A poor American (well not so poor actually) has died in a 'plane crash and I am his next of kin. This came as a shock to me, but Dr. Abduldam seemed very sincere

2) I have won the Euro lottery, although I have e-mailed Mr. Peter Kolk to say that unfortunately I don't think they've got the right person

I hope they don't get too excited that I'm a financial consultant of a large banana concern... I wonder what fruit related mischief will ensue...

Personally ,
I wouldn't even attempt a money scheme without consulting with a mentor myself , much more dangerous , but you sound very well qualified ... good luck and be safe ...

If the emails went to your real life email address, create a bogus free one at gmail, etc, and reply from that. The lad won't notice.

Don't worry. The emails appeared in the spam box of my regular Gmail account. I'd already opened a new Gmail account (using a trashmail address as it happens) and replied from there.

I'm new to this but I have been reading the site for some time so not completely wet behind the ears.

The only thing that concerns me slightly is that in order to save spam e-mails on a Gmail account, one must mark them as "not spam" - I don't want the Google computer unlearning its filtering and affecting innocent users

It's good to see you jumping right in. There should be lots of helpful advice in your welcome PM, and you can always ask for help here if you come across anything you are unsure of. A mentor can be a great help, but there is no harm in winging it, as long as you observe a few basic precautions. Very Happy

Thanks, I've been using different identities on the net for some time now (not for anything illegal, mind you, just because sometimes I don't like being identified - preaching to the choir here, I expect)

It must be very difficult to trust anyone on here - I signed up with a fake profile and nobody know who I am (I'm not Alan, although how people know to trust him, I don't know)

I don't find it difficult to trust people here. Most are fairly consistent and predictable. Even the lads and wackos. Wink

Regarding alan, while he is completely trustworthy, there isn't much need for trust. The information we send him has little value to anyone outside of law enforcement and financial institutions (real ones).

regarding the spam filter issue in GMail, here's how to get around it Smile

as disribed sure would like to know what your string of characters is that you used

Hi there and welcome. I'm new to baiting myself but I have been reading here on Eater for allmost a year now. As for what you said about trusting ppl here, I would not loose any sleep over it!

First of all, noone will ask about your personal info (they will prolly advise you to remove it if you should happen to post any).

Secondly the people here seem to be among the most mature and responsible the internet has to offer (not saying I know all Eater readers, just what I personally observed).

I think people here have very different levels of paranoia and IMHO (mine and mine alone) as long as you are not inviting ½ of nigeria to your housewarming (read: give out personal info) its up to the individual to decide when they feel safe enough.

That being said, I wish you all the best with your new thrill and again welcome mate.

while typing this I am looking at a Glock 23 .40 cal. sitting next to me, an AK-74 behind me and a M-4 in my closet..... also a Sawed-off 12 ga. Mossberg sitting under my bed.
