Another Lad isn't up to speed with American slang!

I wrote a while back about Lads getting confused when Captain Mal uses the phrase, "What the Sam Frick..." Well, here's another.

Quote:
What the Sam Frick is the bank doing arranging a lawyer for me? I thought you were going to take care of that!

The reply:

Quote:
Thank you for your urgent reply. This is the Attorney Contact below. We don't have anybody as Sam Frick here.

Smile

I wonder if that would work with "What in Holy Moses..." Laughing

Another Lad doesn't like Mal's use of slang, as in this...

Quote:
I have been gorram serious from the git-go, but like just about anyone else I don't like being jerked around by a bunch of sissy-boy rent-a-cops who could have made this so much easier if they'd made this clearer from the beginning!

You tell me to be more reasonable, understanding, and tolerant; it's hard to do that when the people you're dealing with would turn Gandhi homicidal!

Also - "you are to comply with their rules and not the other way round" - I don't subscribe to the Basil Fawlty school of business management. In my book companies are supposed to treat clients with respect and honor their wishes because they are there for us, not the other way around!

... prompted this (emphasis added).

Quote:
You must understand that I did not schooled in your country and therefore found very unfamiliar your semantic innuedos.

Say what?

Then the Lad added:

Quote:
We have a desperate situation at hand needing a logical judgment and gracious concession, not because your position and thoughts are not right, but because sometimes in life, even wise men humble themselves for greater benefits.

Fortune cookie bollocks!

I love the slippery grasp that most Lads have on the English language

Quote:
What do you mean by what we meant, please if you have not digested my previous email to you then kindly go through it carefully and let us know your decision faster in your best interest.

Any long mails from Lads - I just reply "please explain".

It really hacks them off. Laughing

Next message.

I’m sure you meant to say “to-wubba who?”

Been having all sorts of linguistic high jinks with Mal-speak my own self. Don’t need nouns, much of the time, so long as I include the pertinent.

Just keep on giving heartache to those irritating cods, and keep ’em from learning English any better than the fèiwù they’ve got now. Dǒng ma?
