I am looking for a van so I went to ebay and found this bargain. It isn't in the UK as the ad says, and when you email the seller you get a fairly obvious 419 reply. I was invited to send my email address, proper name and address but curiously not my bank details. 'The van will be delivered to you for free of charge, but I am away from home at the moment'. (Hopefully on a safari?) The seller probably has about a thousand of them to sell, noteably not on the buy-it-now scheme. I am not skilled enough to persue it but wonder if anyone out there in baitingland would like to.

If you have reasons to believe the ad is not legit, have you used the "report it" option on the bottom of the page and report it to Ebay so they can investigate it?
If the seller is in fact a scammer, he certainely does not belong on that site. |

I reported it to ebay before it was removed. I got a standard reply along the lines of 'don't have anything to do with Troy Prod Man.' Well I never had any intentions of Prodding the Troy Man so thats all right then.
Anyway I already sent him a mail by the 'email the seller' facility and this is the reply I got:
Dear xxxxxxxxxxxx,
>
> Hello,
> The van has no problems is in a good conditions.
> I will start my email by telling you that I'm
> currently out of town so pick up isn't an option.
> The item is located home and I will get somebody to

> including shipping for it is £1,700.00.

I replied to him saying that I would be happy to meet him with the cash anywhere in Europe, and when I see that the van is good, I will pay for it and take it away.
Can we get this lads email address from the above, or it that just an ebay letterbox? I haven't had any more mail from him. |

Very easy to bait, wait until the lad suggests using a "reputable" thrid party escrow service and then kill it!! |
