I don't understand why the subject line of a scam email would be off topic. For example, the subject might be "yellow daffodils" and the email is an ad for porn or fake Viagra. Does the scammer think that if he can only get me to open the email, I will discover that it was something I wanted after all, whereas if I knew the real subject, I wouldn't want it yet because it hasn't been sprung on me as a surprise? Because if I needed more porn or wanted to try Viagra, wouldn't I be already receptive and looking for that in the subject line? How is being surprised by it, going to change my mind and make me want it after all? |

Scam and Spam is different for us.
The spammer wants his message/website out , but gets blocked too often by spam filters, so they come up with nice subjects to fool those and put pictures in the message of his advertisements so the spam filter doesn't read it.
A scammer might use a slightly different subject to get your attention the first time and is going after your money. |

hmmmm, spam is different from scam. So I would guess that when you go to a site and place your order without any further email contact, that is spam? And them scam would be if they engage you in some sort of conversation, even if scripted, to negotiate a sum and delivery method? |

Spam is the equivalent of junk mail (snail mail). It's ads, etc. Scams are written and sent by a criminal, trying to con you out of your money. There is really a person on the other side of the emails, who will personally write to you and try to convince you to send him money in one way or another. Scams are fraud and what we deal with here. |
