my lad thinks I am a liar!

I told my lad I was involved in a car crash on my way to the airport, so I was unable to meet him in Ghana. And now he is doubting that my intentions to complete this deal are sincere!

He deserves a slap or two for this email. What should I tell him?

i guess u had better keep to his image of you and lie your way out of it.

your secretary booked the room and you dont know what name she put it under. or you found a better deal at another hotel and had booked there. (now cancelled)

if he was in the final stages of negotiation he was obviously negotiating with the other "person" while still negotiating with you so was doing the dirty.

maybe let him know you really want to help but if the other partner is helping there is no need for your services.(should but not always come back to you) plus slap him for wasting your valuable time.

Try that it was booked under your company name and not your personal name as you were claiming it as a business expense. Be very idignant with him! Make sure you are disgusted with his allegations.

You never book hotel rooms in your own name for security and medical reasons, which are obvious to anyone of any intelligence whatsoever.

^^Good tips up there. He's trying to pressure you, by saying he has another maga ready to pay. That's probably a lie. You could whip out a quick newspaper clipping of your accident, and send it to him, then give him a harder slap for not believing you! Very Happy

BIG slap needed here - of course he hasn't got someone else in on the deal, there is no deal! If I were you, I'd be outraged, absolutely fuming that your integrity is in question and now you're not sure you even want to deal with him if he can't show more sympathy. Don't race in with the clipping, that's a final convincer. He needs you more than you need him, so really go to town on the outrage and doubt. If you weren't a liar you would be incandescent with fury at being called a liar after the trauma you've just been through trying to help him out - now he owes you bigtime Wink

Depending on how big that accident is you should have a friend tell the lad about your accident. I did this once and had "my mom" reply to the vlad, as "I" was in hospital.
And of course the vlad had to supply "get well soon" trophies, as receiving those wishes from a loved one will surely support a speedy recovery.

But I guess you're not dealing with a vlad here, so this may not be such an easy way to trophies, but it'll always work as a good excuse for not travelling/not being able to go to WU or whatever the lad wants you to do.
If necessary you really hurt your head and start forgetting stuff the lad told you. Then he can explain everything again and again.

I think that accidents have a lot of potential, which of course varies depending on the type of scam and lad you are dealing with.

By the way, if you would like to make your lad happy with a trip to his area, why not book through my travel agency (rules of use supplied in the thread), that way you have a site to point the lad to where he can confirm you're really coming.

Just make sure you have switch planes somewhere, so that you can get delayed or stranded. The latter of course is a good option when it happens in a neighboring country, as it may encourage the lad to make the trip to meet you there, as you are afraid to go on by yourself.

Of course he couldn't find your reservation as it was booked in your employer's name "Flip and Dip Tasty Minto's" and you never realised that he was wanting to examine your booking details, but if he'd like to pay for your next trip he can book it any name he likes.

As he's shown such bad faith I'd tell him that you want at least as good a deal as his new partner, and if he won't offer that then he can go play with himself, considering he never even bothered to ask how you are.

great tips here!

I did tell him that I sustained injuries that made it difficult to care for myself, and therefore haven't been able to re-book. I also had my "daughter" tell him about my accident.

I had some dear friends from Morocco meet me in Ghana, so the reservation was in their names. ( I managed to bore him with long and pointless stories about them)

So I gave him a major slap and haven't heard back. Once I do, I will wait a while and then submit a newsclipping about my accident. I like that!
I will also visit the travel agency and book another trip.
