My cockatiel was hit by a NYC bus!!

Can you believe it? Of all things that could happen to a pet bird! You'd think maybe my cats would get it or something else - - but of ALL things it gets away - glides down (clipped wings) and is hit by a NYC bus! My son ran to try to get it and the bus tried to swerve but it couldn't and the bird was flattened. So my son stopped the other traffic and scooped up his dead bird. When it got dark last night, my friend's husband went into the park and buried it.

I feel so horrible because it was my fault that it got loose. My son cried all night last night and all morning so we went around looking for another bird. We found all kinds of mean ones, but then we found a sweet Quaker Parrot. So, we now have it and have no idea if it is male or female, so we are pretending it's a female like the cockatiel.

I'm really sorry to hear about your bird. I have lost pets, and I know how it feels. Sad

I'm glad you found a new one, though.

And I'm sure you will keep a closer eye on this one.

I am glad the sweet Quaker Parrot now has a home with a loving owner/momma though.

Ouch, that must have been sad, we lost our cat of 12 years when my dad ran it over in the dark Sad

he was absolutely shaken poor man, and it wasn't his fault the cat somehow got in the way when it was parking.

However we like to believe the cat was already dead sitting there and he just flattened a dead body.

I've had a few pets die in traffic accidents myself. It's a sad time.

Man, that really sucks. Watching your kid grieve the loss of a pet is horrible enough when the pet dies of old age, but getting flattened by a bus? Damn. That must be rough. Please send him my sympathies.
