Interesting YouTube video of a 419 scam victim being sued in Judge Judy.
It show how an overpayment scam ends up hurting the victim beyond the money sent overseas. In this case the ex husband is suing her for the legal costs of bailing her out of the criminal case. I'm sure she had to answer to the bank for the whole value of the checks.

The comments people are giving on that video laughing at what happened to her sicken me.
We should comment on the video and give them the facts about what 419 scams can do. At the same time people can pimp 419Eater and baiting. |

Apparently he did barter for for the fees so there wasn't any cash payment made. |

It´s all fraud just as well. Maybe the technique of fake banks or phishing is "more advanced"...  |

In europe almost all payments go via bank transfer, I never understood why they use checks in the US that much. |

Oops, sorry, I´ve just changed the post, it could have been misunderstood as offensive by you...
History...I have forgotten it exactly but long ago, didn´t one state accept each other´s checks but not bank transfers?!? (a very wild guess now, there WAS a reason and somehow it had to do with one state accepting each other´s checks, in contrast to different modalities)
Well, checks do not appear in my world, neither does WU or even do CC (I avoid them ) but I can see their advantages and disadvantages. I just think scammers can forge it all, so there is no true difference between check fraud or phishing or flashing accounts or whatever...at least not to the victim.
However, I still haven´t found out why banks still need 2-3 days here for a bank transfer 
I shouldn´t have started this. i don´t understand it anyway. |

They collect the interest for those 2-3 days nothing more nothing less.
But all those payments like salary, rent, gas, electric etc. can be automated. Why still use checks? It costs a lot of time and money to process the checks. |

Too true.
I seriously can't remember the last time I paid for anything by cheque. Even when I was in business everything was done by Bank Transfer, Direct Debit or cash. |

I pay my rent by check. I think that's about it. I pay my utility bills by bank transfer, and everything else either by debit card or cash. My checkbook lasts a long time. |
