@DB - actually whenever we uncover a member with an infected machine we always let them know. We let two know over the last three weeks that happens about once or twice a month on average.

There are others of course that simply cannot handle the fact that Eater continues to flourish and go from strength to strength despite their attempts to sabotage this site. So far their efforts have been totally futile.

aa419 currently have a thread in their main forum appealing for would-be donators to instead divert their generosity towards castle cops, such is the need for a new server.

The last I read, the running total of raised funds was hard to determine, as obviously the castle cops site was timing out. I do remember that the forum had an actual cost of purchase for the new server, and it wasnt cheap ... Sad

I wish I could do more. Both casle cops and aa419 do a tremendous job and really deserve a server for free for their imeasurable efforts to fight 419 scams, God only knows how much they have saved potential victims.

Hopefully aa419 will be back up soon.

Im overjoyed that we are standing up against Vlad and his little bot army. Seriously, we all thank you Rover for your dedication to the job of keeping us alive.

Actually I have a tin foil lined bag that I wear when I need to. but its gets a little hot if I get to close to the microwave oven. Shocked

I stopped trying to load the page for now, assuming that if it was DDoS related (which in my completely uninformed opinion is part of the problem over there), that additional people trying to load the page won't help matters any. I can find a few targets on searches anyway. I'll do a search tonight and if aa419 remains down, will put them in the forums over here, but most of what I'll find will be escrows.

If I see anything hosted on Rustelekom that needs attention I will send it your way. Smile

Just an update.

We are now down to four (4) bots attacking us. As at 2:45pm (EST)

Welcome Simon. Unfortunately I have no info about aa419. One source told me it is ISP (Castlecops problems) another source told me it was a DDOS attack. I will continue to update out attack status here if that helps any.

The way our servers are currently setup - I do not even notice a spike in the bandwidth usage that these four are pulling. Actually even when there were ten of them we did not feel it.

Indeed, it is hardly a serious attempt to bring this forum to its knees. And to the best of my knowledge no other anti-scam forums have noticed a change in the threat level lately - some of them would certainly feel the brunt before 419eater. I suspect that a few dormant but infected PCs have woken up and acted on previously issued instructions to attack this forum. Nothing to worry about, hopefully.
