I have a love lad on for a week or so now and now they say that they are paying for a translation service so they can talk to me

i have now had an email from the "tranlastion company" saying her membership is now ended

how do you think i should proceed with this?

AFAIK, and I never did a love bait, it is very common.
That's what I read around here.
It's just another type of try to steal your money.

Yes it's a standard interpreter scam.
Ask how they want payment and give them the run around.
It most likely won't last long.
There are free interpreter programs so send her some emails in her language. They may try to change course.

Agree to their fees as long as the sweet lady can send you a photo to an agreed pose...maybe sitting on a chair holding a marrow in one hand and a sign saying something like "character name is a REALLY big boy!" in the other. Say that this will prove to you that this is not just a scam, and that you do love her dearly. THEN start the run around...WU? notorious for money going walkabout in Russia. Shall I send you a personal cheque...etc etc etc.

You should if you play your cards right get a half decent trophy photo, and even more so a seriously miffed Vlad!

It is possible however unlikely to get a bank account, the translation company will insist that "olga does not have the account of bank so it will be necessary to send money using Western Union" they will go on, "In Russia it is not like America, not all the people have an account of bank here"

If you persist long enough you may get lucky but dont be too disappointed if you dont get one,

If the translations are not of quality, make sure you complain that your not paying for that crappy english ! Buys a little time for planning.

Just be carefull, it might turn out that the whole thing is actually real.
I happened to stumble upon a real lady in Russia, who did use a legit translator (who did crappy translations anyway). She didn't ask for money straight away, but eventually asked if I could help. She provided real bank account details and her real address with telephone number....

If you hang around in 419 space too long, you start to see scams where they aren't. Rolling Eyes

^^^ This has all the hallmarks of a scam as does the person you mention, without knowing the details I tend to think the girl you mention is also a scammer, just one with less experience.

I could be wrong, but asking for money for translations when free translators are available is never going to come accross as legit to me Wink

see i have a few oin the go right now

99% of them are blatantly model pics nicked from a site

but one sent me pictures of in the pub, family meal etc etc

i am a little hesitant that this one might be real as the script is very different from the normal aswell

A good indicator as to what you have at the other end of the hook, is to check out the e-mail header content. If you see any sign of 'The Bat' or 'The Bat Profesional' in the header content, you will 99.9% certain have a Vlad on the hook!!

Don't worry too much about the content of the mail or the nice family piccies...how hard are family group photo's to come by on the net? I had a Vlad who sent piccies of 'her' Mum and Dad in the garden with her sister...yeah right! I could put a photoshopped picture of Margaret Thatcher, Prince Phillip and Kylie Minogue together and say they were my Mum, Dad and Sister...you don't know me or my family, prove otherwise!

Some of these scammers are convincing...which is why every minute of their time you waste, it is one less minute they will spend working a REAL victim!

ok following on fomr this one

i sent a message back to the address asking for a photo of her holding a sign saying "J0hn Ry@n is a big boy" i got a reply back from the translation company saying that my lady will be doing the photo for me today and that it will be sent shortly

now why is the translation company become the messenger lmao

Another one i have on at the same stage of the translator asking for money, i told them if i can receive something to prove love i would send money

and they called ME a scammer

The translation scam is popular in the Ukraine. Check the headers, and it's almost a certainty that's where you'll find the email originated from.

These women are real and photos are authentic. They may even be paying a translation service (though they are collecting their fees several times over). They will often even meet the men they are corresponding with (provided the man pays for everything and brings lots of gifts). They are a modern (and much more organized) version of a "gold-digger," though they generally aren't really looking for marriage, as they actually get more out of pro dating.

They are typically corresponding with many men at one time, receiving money and gifts from all of them, while pretending to be in love. Some men have reported visiting their "love" and being required to provide thousands of dollars in gifts to friends, family members, whoever. When the money/gift supply dwindles, the man is dropped. Pro-daters do break hearts (and bank accounts).

Would I go out of my way to bait a pro-dater, knowing that they were real? No. Would I feel guilty if I baited a probable scammer and they turned out to be a pro dater? Not at all.

It's pretty safe to say that 99.9% of the time, a man or woman who starts demanding money or expensive gifts (whether the demand is polite or not) based solely on an internet relationship is up to no good.

In my case she wasn't a pro-dater either, these are the tough cookies! Smile

She happened to be the genuine thing, desperate to leave the situation she was in. (Yes, the story about being dumped and all that, the same stuff we find in the scammers scripts), but we kept on emailing even after I told her we would be no more than friends. She was at the time a teacher (yes, somewhere in the Ukraine), now (after 4 years) happily living with a nice guy in Germany.

It does rarely happen, and it's hard to distinguish the very few real ones through the massive amounts of scammers. And I don't think I've come accross one in the recent years.
