My question is about photoshoping and PDF's

what are some of the better yet free photoshop software?, and whats the best way to learn how to use them?.

I dont alot about PDF files or even photoshoping, I have a few photoshop software on my computer, but they the ones you get with a camera and ones that came with my laptop. I dont think that you can edit or fill in PDF forms.

Another memeber here sent me a really useful WU form to send to my lads, but I need to change the names on the form. It is in .jpeg form I think.

if its in jpeg form you could just open it in paint and replace the worsd with what u want

Personnaly, I use the Gimp.

It's even more powerful than Photoshop, but lighter on your system, and free!

On the website, you'll find how to download it in several languages, there is a complete user manual in HTML, ...

Quite easy to use however, to do simple things like add text on a picture.

Paint.net is also good.

I prefer it to gimp, but others find it the other way.

Honestly, I would have to argue that Adobe Photoshop CS2 or CS3 is the most powerful image editing software out there right now.

Granted, GIMP is free. Photoshop is not. There are places online where you can find pirated copies of Photoshop, but given the illegality of that subject I will not say where. Personally, I have a copy of of CS2 that I use. I am almost entirely self-taught, which does take a bit of time. If you have the time and want to go that route, I would recommend it the most. I feel I know photoshop better after teaching myself than through tutorials. It's just a bit more...personal. I doubt that makes sense, though.

There are of course tutorials out there on the net. They are quite easy to find. Just google "photoshop tutorial" and you will get quite a few hits.

If you are looking for something simple, and more readily available, I would have to say you should go with GIMP. As a Photoshop fan of course I would rather you not, but it is your choice.

Either program, though, will suit your needs.

However, to do a baiting work, even Gimp will maybe be "too much"

@nascarfan: in fact you should choose which soft you prefer.
It depends on what you want to do with it...

As albator said its what you prefer

i used to use Paintshop Pro

then i moved onto Photoshop

i have used Gimp before aswell but have seen people do as good as i can do in photoshop with them just using ms paint lol

I use CS3 for my documents. I love the sellection of fonts and the fact you can wrap the text box to make it look like it is hand written. Then throw a photocopy filter on it or any other filter to distort the picture.

Anyway Photoshop Express is a free online form of PS. I've not used it my self but here is the link.

Thanks to all that have replyed here, I am mainly wanting to use it to fill out the forms that the lads send, and put text on photos really.

I have opend the jpeg in paint , but the adding the text is really a pain in the ass and it just looks bad.

Maybe I am not doing it right, HAHA theres a chance there.

I will give some of the software you all have mentioned and see which one I like, I like the one that is easier on my laptop, the older it gets the less it likes to do things.

HAHA its asmazing how guickly things change in the computer world, my laptop is only three years old, in computer world thats like 10 years, lol ok not really.

^^ Why fill out the forms that the lads send? You're doing more work than the lad. The rule in baiting is that the lad does all of the work. Very Happy

Yes I know the point is to make them do all the work, I have only filled out a couple of forms, I was just bored at the time and didnt have anything better to do. What I have been doing now is telling my lads that I didnt get the forms, or I cant find the email, jsut your basic bullshittin to them.

If you're used to working on Photoshop but want something free, GimpShop is the GIMP reworked so that its interface and tools match Photoshop more closely. I used it a lot when I was learning GIMP, but now I just use striaght GIMP because it's better supported and comes pre-installed on my Ubuntu machine Smile

I like to use Photo Serif. It's free. I find it's a breeze to use, and I can make some interesting pics using it:

If you want to fill in forms, you can do it quite easily with Picnik:

You can choose from several different fonts, colours and size/angle, etc.

This one is good either, but I never use it for pictures editing.
But it has the possibility to "exif", i.e. to know when the picture was originally taken.
May be useful to see if your lad sends a crap...

Moreover, irfanview is one of the most universal software, you can read almost all format files thanks to this.

I use the gimp. I have an old version of PS lying around somewhere but only ever used about .5% of all the facilities it has. The gimp has more than enough power for baiting.

Also you may want to take a look at: Inkscape. It's a free vector drawing program similar to Illustrator that lets you create and edit PDFs among other things. Wink

sweeeeeeet!

Best way to find out what your software can do is to use it. I know that sounds simple, but some people will prefer how one art package works to how another works

I'm amazed how unknown this gem is. There are plugins available but havent tried them. For cropping and stuff its perfect. Most my image programs take more than 3 seconds to launch. Photoshop about 30 seconds. This thing opens almost all formats instantly. The thumb viewer is great too.

I know it only because my former boss was using it a lot and told me about it.
I NEVER heard of it anywhere else (except here off course Wink
