Can't set up gmail account

I get to the place where I have to type in the nonsense letters, and just can't do it. The picture is too messed up for me to see it with my adaptive software, and the sound (when I click on the little wheelchair) is too garbled - too much echo and over-noise. And there's no way to fcontact gmail by phone to ask for assistance. and the help files are just too confusing.

Can anyone help me? If I can't set up a gmail account, I'll have to bait from live or hotmail.

There should be a thing that lets you refresh the pic with the funky letters. Give it a try. If that doesn't work, PM me with the name you want. I'll sign up for you and you can change the password.

<br>I have the same problem. The initial letters are incomprehensible, even when I squint. I just type in any old rubbish to start and a couple of attempts later the letters become more legible. Drives me nuts though.

i find the images really warped too.
took me ages to sort out a few accounts.

Thanks for the supportive comments, folks.

I am by now (after three and a half years) becoming accustomed to the extra problems involved in being legally blind. That doesn't mean I have to like it, though. Thank goodness for the adaptive technology that is available nowadays, though. (And thank goodness for the State Department of Rehabilitation that acquired the technology for me.)

Gmail really isn't disabled-friendly. It pisses me off every time I have to do those things because I have several friends who are legally blind (the result of transporting first said friend to a support group weekly for a couple of years) and I know those d@@@ images are impossible with most adaptive software. I encourage all people with disabilities who encounter this type of stupidity to file formal complaints against the offending companies. It is the only way anything will ever change.
