Or spray the words "Mow Me" in weedkiller (bleach works well too). But that would be vandalism and since they know you are the person who wants the grass cut I doubt you'd get away with it.

My neighbor was a problem for a long while - just didn't care, or perhaps it was too much trouble. I would partially mow his shabby yard, since any weed seeds would simply cause me trouble later.

Eventually, he bought a riding mower and now often cuts our shared section (between driveways). Good karma...

Regarding the discussion on The Man's neighbors, it's fun to joke about rotten tricks to pull on an undesirable neighbor, but doing that makes you the bad guy, and is very counterproductive.

In 1999 we had a neighbor (we'll call him Fred) in the rental next door. Fred was a drug dealer. We owned our home so there wasn't an option to move elsewhere. There was constant traffic in and out of his place 24/7. At 2:00 one morning, Fred and his cronies decided to remove the siding from the house and nail up 2' x 2' plywood squares, and then nail tar paper over the top of the plywood squares. The place looked so awful, it literally hurt the eyes to look at it. He knocked on our door a lot wanting to visit with us. Weird stuff continued to take place and our lives were very miserable.

We could have gone over there and got in his face, or did any number of rotten things to make him just as miserable; however, that is not how we handle things, and instead of literally fighting back, we decided to take the high road.

To help with blocking out the eyesore of a house next door, hubby and I discussed building a 6' wooden fence between our house and his. Feeling that he would take offense, my approach was to explain that I have allergies to dust (I really do), and that his dirt driveway was causing the dust to fly badly with so much traffic, and a fence was our solution.

He offered to help build the fence.

Things like boom-boom house rattling loud music at all hours started to wear on both of us and our sanity. One day I saw Fred out in his front yard, and his music was doing its usual boom-da-da-boom shaking his house and ours. I asked him nicely if he would come over and listen to something for me. I took him into our house and down the hallway to the back of the house where our sun room was. He asked me if his music was always that loud at our place and I told him that it was. He was actually embarrassed, apologized and never played loud music again.

There were other incidences, but the our approach is what determined the outcome. In the end Fred got evicted. He and his druggie cronies had trashed the rental house, but there wasn't any animosity from any of them toward us whatsoever.

This may not make sense to some, but a decent and friendly approach usually works much better than being onery. Very Happy

I agree with your approach - had the very same problem myself some years ago and when the guy actually stood in my lounge and heard how loud his music sounded the issue was resolved and he never played it so loud again.
People all live differently and have differing standards when it comes to keeping the house and garden looking good, the OP neighbours probably have no idea their lawn is a problem for anyone, so I would just mention it in a polite way ( assuming they will answer the door) and take it from there

alright, I'll post a NICE note today to their door/in the mail box or what not and see where that gets me. I intended to be nice to them yesterday when I knocked on the door after work, but no answer.

If that does not work I think crop circles is the answer. I'll make them and then call in a tip to the local news. At least if we cannot get them to mow we can have some excitement in the neighborhood!

@slightly - trust me you would NOT want to see that action if they are in fact lesbians.

If they are renting you could talk to the property owner. If not, call the FBI and tell them there is a P lab there (ya might wanna go anonymous on that). After they have left make some comment to the neighbours about how it was probably the look of the place.

Then tip the FBI off about an abducted child.. etc till the women get the idea.

Yeah, SB is all tree-huggingly touchy-feely (and probably right) but evil is so much more fun.

Ah well, being evil is much more fun I know, and I did that when I was younger, but these days people don't take to being treated evilly like they did 'back then.' Laughing

In the late 70's I had neighbors from hell, like The Man's, they refused to mow their yard, and used it as a dump for papers.They were just plain obnoxious people. Since they liked a tall lawn, I decided that they could eat it as well. It rained for a couple of weeks, and during that time I took five packets of leaf lettuce seeds and seeded their lawn when they weren't home. It didn't take long before the garden grew, and they freaked. The lettuce lawn garden remained long after they packed up and left. Very Happy

Interesting to report, they mowed last night finally. Their lawn was over 9 inches high!

The interesting part is that it is the owners ex-husband that was mowing. So I wonder if she is sick/hurt/disabled.

And as for that picture, I was getting ready for a job interview, I don't usually look that good Smile

I happen to know Dick Wagner, I used to get a lot of lawn stuff from his place. and that sounds like him. more consurned about the warranty of the lawn mower. he has a weird sense of humor in that way. Laughing
