If anyone's noticed i've been MIA for about a week. I got a photo from a friend of mine that had a virus on it. Just got my computer back from the fix it shop for a reset and repair.
The tools list I had is lost so I have to go back and search for everything that I had. The website is still there since it's a freewebs page.
Tasman, sorry but i can't get you those photos since I lost my programs for it. Until I get them back on I can't do anything. (edit add: tasman was NOT the source of the virus. It was a non-baiter friend who gave me the virus)
Anyway my comp is back, and the failed anti-virus CD made a great new frisbee for about 10 seconds before it shattered. |

Sorry to hear about your recent computer problems. What anti-virus program were you running that was so failtastic? I want to avoid it. |

My sympathies.My computer at work was infected last week with a piece of mal ware called antivirus xp 2008.Wound up having to remove it and its changes by hand,as the antivirus we run wouldnt even detect it.The bastards who write this shit are clever if nothing else. |

@bruce norton antivirus plus Windows XP stuff.
I had an expired version of Lavasoft virus scanner but that was wasted once the two firewalls were bypassed when I accepted the picture.
@doc I knew a hacker. Not a virus writer, but a hacker. I'd say 80% of his work is done by simple programs that he sets up that then do more complex things. |

Huh! I've just come back from removing that very virus from a client's computer. (It's what I do).
I hope the guys you took it to are good; there are some sneaky little bits to it! PM me if you want to double check.
You shouldn't have lost anything though, there's no need for that! |

@ezilja - as Lotta recommends, Avast is excellent. I use that and Sygate firewall and have never had any kind of problem. |
