I feel rather pleased with myself for coming up with this time-wasting idea, and thought I'd mention it for others to use/abuse. Twisted Evil

The scam followed the regular tradition of the victim being passed from the initial scammer to a "higher-up" in this case a barrister. I didn't really want to bother with him, I still wanted to play with the first scammer, but I think I found a way to play with both! By claiming my character has a terrible fear of barristers (and walnut-paneling), I've insisted that each and every email go through the initial scammer so she can help "verify" the honesty of the barrister. XD This allows me to waste her time by consistently questioning the barrister, and to waste the barrister's time by slapping him for being...well, a barrister.

I'm looking forward to many lulz over this.

nice idea.
Often it is the same scammer playing both parts. Impact in that case may be little. It's nice to call them out about a crappy barister in that case as they have to justify the barrister or fire him.

^^^True it probably is the same person,but it's another level where they have to waste their time.

And if hey mess up, the baiter can always reply to the original scammer "He's emailing me again, I'm afraid, make him stop" And then of course the baiter would need to see the email when the scammer emails himself to cut it out Twisted Evil

I tried this for a while
what I did was ask lad #1 what was his cut etc

then when the legal eagle appeared i torpedoed lad #1

giving him the choice to do all the emailing to the legal eagle and earn his cut
or I would drop him

it worked most of the time when they heard the word DROP

Upon closer inspection, they do write like the same person. Just shows to go how excited I get about the silliest things.

I never thought about insisting on hiring another barrister. Laughing

That is too good. Or even better, it be worth a picture or two to keep him on... *chuckles and rubs hands together in great evil mastermind fashion* It's like chess, only I'm actually good at this. Razz

is the place to go, you'll be able to check up and see if it is the same lad.

It's all the more fun if it's the same lad. Instead of forwarding emails, ask about the contents, making minor changes. For example, if the barrister tells you to send the payment without delay, tell the "original lad" that the barrister asked you to delay the payment for a while, but he didn't say for how long. Kill him with subtle frustration. Very Happy

Thanks, Inspector Gadget! I've been using IP2Location.com, hopefully combining it with this will prove informative. Though, the WU info sent to me today did have a Nigerian address Laughing
