Just finished "Death in the Long Grass" by Peter Capstick. I recommend it, even for non-hunters (such as myself). Not great writing, but he tells interesting stories...

Also recently read a book mentioned in a bait on this site - quite disturbing but a good read. It was an old book about an Australian teacher who tries to go to Sydney for vacation but is detoured to a place called the Yabba. Dang I can't recall the title and can't seem to find the book...

Really? I had over a 20 year investment in that series, starting from the point that I had to borrow The Gunslinger from a library several counties over, and really should have stopped at King's warning.

@ Tsnerd

I first started reading King's books as a teen. (long time ago now)
When the first book "The Gunslinger" came out, I wasn't very interested.
So, I waited and someone recommended reading "The Drawing of the Three" and I was hooked. I went back and read "The Gunslinger" and started the journey in 1999.

I too should of stopped at the warning, but I'm a curious soul and just had to read every last page.

Just finished Lord of the Flies by William Golding, which was fantastic. Instead of English boys, I'd like to see a new version featuring a planeload of Nigerian lads.

Now reading The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens.

I love the Dark Tower series as well. Fortunately I didn't start reading them until the mid-90s during my high school years, so I didn't have to wait nearly as long as some to get to the ending!
